LAW and CLP Programme HELP University Study in Malaysia Further Study

HELP Bachelor of Law (HELP LLB)

HELP University offers its own home-grown LLB programme known as the HELP Bachelor of Laws (HELP LLB) which can be completed entirely at HELP University.
Graduates who complete the HELP LLB degree will be granted the opportunity to enrol in any post graduate Master’s Programme at HELP Graduate School (terms and conditions apply) Excluding the Master of Clinical Psychology

Law UK Degree Transfer Program

The UK Degree Transfer Program (Law) enables students to pursue a prestigious law degree at HELP University.  This program is designed and conducted to a standard corresponding with that of our prestigious UK partner universities, namely the University of the West of England, Bristol, Cardiff University, Aberystwyth University, University of Liverpool, University of Sheffield, University of Manchester, Northumbria University, University of Hertfordshire and University of Leeds.
Upon successful completion of the UK Degree Transfer Program (Law), students will have to transfer to our partner universities or  other universities in the United Kingdom (on a case to case basis) to study for an undergraduate LLB (Hons) degree.
An attractive feature of this program is that students are able to obtain a much sought after UK law degree at an affordable cost, whilst flavouring the UK educational experience.
On completion of the LLB (Hons) degree in the UK, students who wish to become practising lawyers will have to successfully complete either the UK Bar Professional Training Course (which is currently conducted by some of our partner universities, namely the University of the West of England, Bristol, Cardiff University and Northumbria University) to gain admission into the English Bar, or opt to pursue  the Malaysian Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP)  examinations conducted by the Legal Professional Qualifying Board Malaysia.
Alternatively, graduates may also embark on a variety of stimulating career fields, especially in the banking, business, insurance, commercial and management sectors, where legal knowledge is sought after.

Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP)

The Faculty of Law and Government at HELP University is embarking on a new chapter in its history, with the introduction of the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) for law graduates, who are interested in grooming themselves for a career as a member of the Bar in Malaysia.
Indeed, with a stable of well-respected lecturers and members of the Bar, including Datuk KC Vorah,  who served as a member of the legal fraternity, both as an advocate and solicitor and as a judge; and  Hendon Mohamed, former President of the Malaysian Bar Council and the first woman to head the Bar Council, the CLP at HELP aims to create a niche for itself by breaking away from just academia and focusing on developing CLP graduates, with a sound knowledge of the law and a fluency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, both prerequisites for effective presentation in the courts.
The newly introduced HELP CLP course will cultivate these opinion writing and research abilities in those attending the course by inviting senior members of the Bar to conduct practical workshops in their own areas of expertise, thus preparing CLP graduates to able to cope when they go into practice.
One of the important aspects of legal practice is the ability to draft legal opinions which is a prerequisite in determining the strength of the client’s case. Sensing this importance, CLP students at HELP will be attending classes on legal drafting conducted by experienced members of the Bar.
The CLP programme is a short and rigorous one, with tight schedules and in total 5 subjects to be completed. Therefore, small cohorts would be encouraged as opposed to large classes where the students were used to rote learning.
We take pride in being the pioneers of an innovative and inspiring CLP programme, one which encourages the students to grow and become confident of themselves, both in the law and their presentation skills as the actual practice of the law in Malaysia entails both.
