General background The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) was the first branch campus of a British University that established outside the UK. It was opened in September 2000 and was moved to its new purpose-built campus located at Semenyih, Selangor (30 km south of Kuala Lumpur city centre) in September 2005. The campus is led by senior academic staff who are seconded from Nottingham and ensure that the standard of teaching is of the same high quality as its UK campuses.
The environment The campus is occupying a scenic position overlooking green hills on a 101-acre site, and designed to mirror the attributes of University Park in the UK. It is a self-contained and self-sufficient neighbourhood village in a garden environment with 5000 students. It combines a high-quality living environment with state-of-the-art learning, teaching and research facilities.
Pros The university was ranked 84th in the world in the QS World University Rankings® 2017. The Malaysian Government has also awarded the University with a 5-star rating for the quality of its research and innovation, making it the highest rated international university in Malaysia. More than just an education, the University also provides a comprehensive network to support students’ overall wellbeing.
